What a weekend...

We headed to Greenville this weekend because I hadn't gotten to see my mom for her birthday, and she's been so sick, I just felt like we needed to make the trip to check on things. By the time we got to Atlanta, we got a call that they were putting her back in the hospital due to the bowel blockage that was still causing a great deal of pain.

Friday night she was pretty miserable, but by Saturday things were looking up and she was joking and in good spirits. I honestly thought at a couple of points I was going to have to physically restrain her for making a run for the nearest food cart she was so hungry, but they finally let her go on clear liquids later on that afternoon. She had some pain that night, but by Sunday, she was still on fluids and having no pain at all.

Today they put her on some thicker soups and gave her a little ice cream to see how she could do with that, and they are running another x-ray. Mom and I are both wondering if the blockage has worked it's way out. God has worked lesser miracles on her before, and we both know it! The doctors are trying to figure out whether all this is a result of chemo or her disease...we probably won't know for a few more days, but I will keep everyone posted.

Please add her to your prayers - for a speedy recovery and for the doctors to be granted the wisdom to know if she needs more chemo to stop the disease or if her body is reacting badly to the chemo and we need to find a different drug.

More updates soon to follow...
