5 Years...

I'm a little late on this post...big shock right? I had a few minutes and just wanted to recognize that 5 years ago this past weekend I met my husband. We met when two of our very best friends were getting married, by the time the wedding weekend was over, we were together. As I always like to tell people when I tell the story of how we met, "on Sunday, we were both headed back to our homes (5 hours apart), but he called me that day and every day since."

It's amazing to think back on how giddy we both were, and as a woman, we find it easy to look back and sigh with longing on the time when we were "wooed." But I'll tell you this, I wouldn't trade the last five years of my life for anything. They have been the best years of my life, and he is the best thing that ever happened to me! I may not be "wooed" anymore, but he makes me feel completely loved and appreciated every day and I have complete security in that.

Our song that we danced our first dance to at our wedding was "God Bless the Broken Road." Rarely has there ever been a song more perfect for two people than this song is for us...so I added it to the blog in a tribute to the last five years...CRAZY, how they've flown by!

God Bless The Broken Road Lyrics...
I set out on a narrow way, many years ago
Hoping I would find true love along the broken road
But I got lost a time or two
Wiped my brow and kept pushing through
I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you

Every long lost dream led me to where you are
Others who broke my heart, they were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you

I think about the years I spent, just passing through
I'd like to have the time I lost, and give it back to you
But you just smile and take my hand
You've been there, you understand
It's all part of a grander plan that is coming true

Every long lost dream led me to where you are
Others who broke my heart, they were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you

But now I'm just rolling home into my lover's arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you...
